Healthy Puppy Chow

Healthy Puppy Chow

Official vote: Who calls it puppy chow and who calls it muddy buddies? Whatever your stance on the name, we can all agree that these crunchy chocolate peanut butter squares are one of THE tastiest, most addictive treats out there. Luckily, this healthy puppy chow recipe takes them up to a slightly healthier level without sacrificing any of the delicious taste you know and love!

Ingredients

1 cup Yumbutter sunflower butter (or any variety!)

1/3 cup maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup cacao powder

1/2 cup water

1 box (7-8 cups) square cereal (such as Barbara’s bakery multigrain squares)

3/4 cup powdered sugar

Directions

Measure out the nut butter in a glass measuring cup and microwave for 1 minute (stir at 30 seconds).

Add the water and maple syrup and whisk into the nut butter, then microwave for another 1 minute. Whisk in the cacao powder and vanilla extract.

Pour about 5 cups of the cereal into a large container or bowl, then pour the nut butter mixture over the cereal. Combine using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. Continue to add more cereal until desired consistency is reached.

Refrigerate for 15 minutes, then mix in the powdered sugar. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for a couple of days (if it even lasts that long)!
