Chocolate Date Shake

Chocolate Date Shake

If you've ever visited the Coachella Valley (where date palms are abundant), chances are you've at least seen the iconic Palm Springs specialty: the Date Shake. This recipe is a twist on the classic, with fragrant additions like rosewater, ginger, and cardamom and nutty notes of almond butter. It's the perfect creamy summer treat to enjoy while soaking up some sunshine!

Makes 1 serving

3 Medjool dates, pitted

2 tablespoons Yumbutter Inergy Almond Butter

1 tablespoon raw cacao powder

¾” fresh ginger root, peeled

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground cardamom

½ teaspoon rosewater

½-¾ cup water

Optional: organic rose petals, for garnish

Place dates in a bowl and cover with hot water. Let sit for 5 minutes, until soft. Place in blender. Add remaining ingredients to blender and process at high speed until very smooth and frothy. (Use more water for a thinner consistency).

Pour into a glass and garnish with rose petals, if desired.

Tips:

-Don’t skip the date-soaking step! This makes the drink much creamier and juicier

-Can’t find cardamom? You may use ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg instead.

-Swap orange blossom water for the rosewater, or leave it out entirely if you’re not a fan
